Global air passenger traffic is projected to reach 2.6 billion people by 2026, up from nearly 2 billion in 2021. This is a 1.1% average annual decline since 1975. China was the leader in air traffic in 2021, with nearly 458 million people. The US, India and Ireland ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively. Senegal's air passenger traffic was up 88.6% year-on-year, while Estonia fell 73.1%. Global airline revenue is expected to reach $114 billion in 2026, down 0.9% annually on average, from $110 billion in 2021. This is a 2.5% annual decline since 2017. The US topped global airline revenue in 2021, at $31 billion. Germany, the UK and Ireland took the 2nd, 3rd and 4th spots. Estonia saw a 21.8% year-on-year increase in revenue, while Brazil dropped 25.2%.
