This is according to a new report, which forecasts that Guyanese Maternal Mortality Rate will continue to decrease over the next five years. In 2021, the mortality rate was 24 deaths per 100,000 live births, but this is set to decrease to 21 deaths by 2026. This amounts to an average year-on-year decrease of 1.8%. Since 2005, the demand for maternal health services in Guyana has been decreasing. On average, the decrease has been 2.3% year on year. This decrease is expected to continue over the next five years, resulting in further drops in the Maternal Mortality Rate.
