By 2026, Mauritian Methanol imports are expected to reach 137,340 kilograms. This is a 1.7% growth from 2021, when imports stood at 124,050 kilograms. Since 1998, Mauritian demand for methanol has declined by 1% annually. In 2018, Mauritian exports of methanol stood at close to 100 kilograms, a sharp decrease of 75% from the 400 kilograms of 2017. This placed Mauritius 79th in the global ranking. Ahead of it was Ghana, with 100 kilograms. Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States were the top three countries in this ranking, respectively.
