Icelander exports of methanol are set to reach 877,090 kilograms by 2026, growing at an average rate of 4% per year. Since 2016, Icelandic supply has dropped by 1.3% annually. In 2021, Iceland ranked 52nd in the world in terms of methanol exports, behind Bulgaria who exported 689,810 kilograms. Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States were the leading exporters, coming in at 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively. Icelander imports of methanol fell 95%, to 48.78 kilograms in 2021, from 975.85 kilograms in 2020. Since 1993, Icelandic demand has decreased by 61.8% on a yearly basis.
