Belgian imports of methanol are set to reach almost one billion kilograms by 2026, according to new figures. This is a 1.7% increase annually since 2021, when 891.6 million kilograms were imported. Belgian exports of methanol are also expected to reach 267.9 million kilograms in 2026, a 2.1% year-on-year rise. This is a slight drop compared to 2004, when the average year-on-year decrease was 2.1%. Germany is currently the largest exporter, surpassing Belgium in 2021 with 236.1 million kilograms. Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States are the second, third and fourth largest exporters, respectively.
