In 2021, Italy was the 25th largest exporter of Methanol worldwide. Exports grew 1.2% year-on-year since 1999, to reach 29 million kilograms. This was despite the country being outranked by the United Arab Emirates (27 million kilograms), Iran (2nd), Saudi Arabia (3rd) and the United States (4th). Meanwhile, imports of Methanol to Italy decreased from 554 million kilograms in 2014 to 539 million kilograms in 2015.
