In 2021, Ireland was ranked 55th in the world for methanol exports. Hungary overtook it with 237,300 kilograms. Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United States ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively. In 2015, Irish imports of methanol totaled nearly 24 million kilograms, down 8.8% from the year before.
