Benin is set to become an increasingly significant player in the global animal feed market. Exports are estimated to reach around 9.4 million kilograms by 2026, representing a 3.5% annual growth rate since 2021. This marks a dramatic 144% increase since 2009. In 2021, Benin placed 74th in the global export rankings, behind Switzerland (7.5 million kilograms). Germany, Belgium and the US followed in second, third and fourth place respectively. On the import side, Benin is expected to bring in around 1.8 million kilograms of animal feed by 2026, growing at an average of 0.7% a year since 2021. This marks a 4.5% decrease since 2003. In 2021, Benin placed 129th in global import rankings, behind Togo (1.7 million kilograms). Germany, Belgium and Ireland came in second, third and fourth place respectively.
