Nigeria is set to see a slight rise in pig production and consumption over the next five years. In 2021, the number of pigs produced in Nigeria is estimated to reach 1.66 million. This number is predicted to increase by 1.2% year-on-year, reaching 1.78 million heads by 2026. This marks a 1.7% year-on-year increase since 1966. Meanwhile, the amount of pork consumed in the country is expected to remain stable, with an estimated 0.2% year-on-year growth from 2021-2026. This is on par with the 2017-2026 average. In 2021, it is estimated that 289 thousand metric tons of pork will be consumed in Nigeria.
