Japanese demand for solar energy is on the rise. By 2026, consumption is projected to reach over one exajoule, up from 0.81 exajoules in 2021. On average, demand has grown 4.1% year on year since 2021. Over the past twenty years, consumption has increased by an impressive 14.2% annually. In terms of capacity, Japan's solar power supply is expected to reach almost 95,000 megawatts by 2026. This is up from 74,190 megawatts in 2021, and represents an average annual growth of 3.9%. Since 2001, Japan's solar capacity has grown by 12% each year.
