Cameroonian bioenergy consumption is on the rise. In 2021, it reached 85.43 million metric tons, up 1.6% compared to the previous year. This marks a steady increase since 1975, when the demand was 3.4% higher than the previous year. Morocco overtook Cameroon in 2021, and ranked 43rd with 85.43 million metric tons. India, Brazil and the United States came in second, third and fourth respectively. Cameroon’s bioenergy consumption is projected to reach 93.43 million metric tons by 2026.
