This is a continuation of a downward trend that has seen nuclear energy consumption drop by 1.2% annually since 1973. In terms of nuclear energy production, Spain is expected to produce 55,320 gigawatthours in 2026, a 0% rise from 2021. This is despite production having decreased by 0.3% year-on-year since 1979. Spain was ranked 8th in 2021, overtaken by Sweden with 55,250 gigawatthours. France, South Korea, and Canada were ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively.
