European imports of non-ferrous metals are expected to reach 80.4 million metric tons in 2026, slightly up from 78.4 million metric tons in 2021. This is an average annual increase of 0.4% since 2016. Germany was the leading importer in 2021, with 15.7 million metric tons, followed by Spain, France and Norway. Over the same period, Cyprus saw the biggest increase, at 29.1%, while Belgium experienced a 4.8% decrease. European exports of non-ferrous metals are also predicted to reach 46.5 million metric tons in 2026, a 0.4% yearly increase from 45.2 million metric tons in 2021. Since 2016, supply has increased by 1.3%. Germany topped the list of European exporters in 2021 at 6.8 million metric tons, followed by Spain, the Netherlands and France. Croatia saw the biggest rise, at 14.2%, while Malta saw the biggest decrease, at 41.5%.
