Do you have reports of farm investment in Australia?

Good day,

Thank you for submitting your request.

Our database has some reports about the agriculture industry that can meet your needs.  Below are the most recent and relevant.

Report 1 – “Agricultural commodities”, Department of Agriculture and Water Resources Australian Government, March 2016.

There is a section is this report that highlights how only a nearly small proportion of Australian farms buy land in any one year. The value of land purchases commonly dominates total investment because of the average value of land transactions, but most producers will make some annual investment in plant, vehicles, machinery and/or infrastructure.

“Net investment in plant, vehicles, machinery and farm infrastructure on broadacre farms has been relatively high since 2007–08 (Figure 15). Net investment is the difference between total value of plant, vehicles, machinery and farm infrastructure purchased and total value of those items sold or disposed of. In addition to acquiring new capital items and replacing old items, farms must cover ongoing maintenance and repair of existing plant, vehicles, machinery and farm infrastructure.”

Report 2 – “Agri Insights”, CAN, October 2015.

This research managed by GFK for CAN contains charts and graphs to understand Australian farmers’ intentions.  It resumes how the high priority for investment across all states remains to be fixed infrastructure. Queensland stays ahead of the national average in terms of land purchase intentions, while for Western Australia and Tasmania fixed infrastructure and plant and equipment are especially strong investment priorities.

“Technology and innovation investment continues to be a key area of focus for Australian farmers. New South Wales is above the national average for investment in farm technology, with South Australia leading the nation in off farm investment intentions.”
