Market Overview

• Almost all of the industries in the world use water as an integral part of their processes. Water has numerous uses in a process operation, both in internal and external applications. When used in these applications, the water’s characteristics change due to the addition of chemicals in the internal process as well as temperature and pressure changes in the external circuit.
• In addition, industries utilize water treatment chemicals for effluent treatment, process treatment, and/or cooling/boiler water treatment purposes. However, while a few of the industries choose to outsource their water treatment operations completely, some of them prefer to buy the chemicals and to operate their facilities independently.
• In general, the industries have water treatment plants for treating their processes and wastewater for either reuse or discharge. The treatment processes are generally completed in steps depending on the concentration of the water to be treated.
• Different treatment processes and chemicals for performing the various water treatment processes are used.
• Impurities in the water that are visible and large enough to be removed are generally removed via the filtration method. However, the problem for the industries stems from the addition of chemicals within the processes that require either removal or reduction in quantities. The complex process systems have a tendency to produce by-products that are likely to bioaccumulate and cause harmful changes in the environment. This has resulted in the use of chemicals and advanced technologies for ensuring that these harmful products are either reduced or removed from the water discharged into the environment.
