As of May 14, 2013, about 64% ($5.1 billion) of the $8.0 billion in U.S. Smart Grid Investment Grant (SGIG) funds have been spent across 99 projects. Of the amount spent to date, 63% has been spent on Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), 24% on Distribution Automation (DA), 6% on Transmission Systems, and 7% on Customer Systems. Further, 12.3 million smart meters have been installed, 6,835 automated feeder switches, 729 phasor measurement units (PMUs), and 237,340 direct load control devices.

In this Premium Data Set, Zpryme provides a detailed view of how U.S. utilities have used their SGIG funds. A total of 107 utilities are included in the data set. With the data, vendors and utilities can zero-in, at the utility level, on spending on smart meters, distribution management systems, AMI communication networks, DA communication networks, transformer and feeder monitors, and IT hardware, software, and systems. The data also allows users to aggregate total spending across specific investment areas and technology and equipment areas.

Zpryme has conducted a rigorous analysis of the U.S. DOE SGIG project data to ensure vendors and utilities can leverage the data to for business development, benchmarking, marketing, and strategic planning. To make this a truly industry-first dataset for actionable planning, the combined expertise of Zpryme’s global research team and Smart Grid Advisory Board provide a concise set of strategic data to capitalize on the U.S. Smart Grid market.
