Based on a survey of 103 educational institutions in the UK, this Datamonitor document provides insight into these institutions' 2005-07 IT spending priorities. Focus areas include IT budgets, wireless, security, outsourcing, and vendor attributes. Phone-based interviews with 103 educational institutions: schools, further education colleges and higher education institutions.
 
Geographic coverage includes all regions of the UK, including the devolved regions.

Highlights
 
Most ICT budgets for 2005 remain at 2004 levels or are higher. ICT funding is now coming from a wider variety of sources as decision makers start to use new revenue streams to supoprt new ICT deployments.
 
 
Vendor websites remain extremely important as a source of information for all institutions when making their purchasing decision, be it looking for a specific vendor, for general advice and consultation or supply and implementation.
 
 
Managed services spend will increase over the short term, with payroll, security, telecoms and network management being the most likely areas to be outsourced.
