Product Definitions

PD (positive displacement) Pump : A PD pump causes fluid to move by first trapping a fixed amount and then forcing it into the discharge pipe. These pumps produce a constant flow at a steady speed, regardless of the discharge pressure. PD pumps encompass rotary, reciprocating, and peristaltic pumps. Rotary pumps include screw, progressive cavity, lobe, and gear pumps. Reciprocating pumps comprise piston and diaphragm pumps.
Gear Pump : A gear pump uses the meshing of gears to pump fluid by displacement. This type of pump is one of the most common for hydraulic fluid power applications.
Screw Pump : A screw pump is a more complicated type of rotary pump that uses 2 or 3 screws with opposing thread—1 screw turns clockwise and the other counterclockwise. The screws are mounted on parallel shafts, on which gears mesh so the shafts turn together and everything stays in place. The screws turn on the shafts and drive fluid through the pump.
Vane Pump : A rotary vane pump is a positive-displacement pump that consists of vanes mounted to a rotor that rotates inside of a cavity. In some cases, these vanes are of variable length and/or tensioned to maintain contact with the walls as the pump rotates.
