BMI View: Although recent investments into the fixed broadband sector will lead to improved connectivityand reduced prices, the prevalence of cheap mobile data and smartphones as well as mobile networks'ability to surpass Indonesia's archipelagic nature will limit uptake of fixed broadband. Furthermore, thelaunch of 4G in the re-farmed 1800MHz spectrum has stimulated 4G network expansion in IndonesiaDespite this, we expect take-up of the service to be gradual as the new minimum local content requirementson LTE-enabled devices could have the effect of increasing production costs and, subsequently, the prices ofsmartphones.
