The motor segment was the market's most lucrative in 2015, with total gross written premiums of $37.6bn, equivalent to 34.4% of the market's overall value.

IPT in the UK increased from 6% in 2014 to 9.5% in 2015 and has subsequently increased a further 0.5% (to 10%) in 2016. IPT is added onto insurance quotes automatically causing an increase in premiums.
