Sigfox has announced the deployment of its IoT network in Mexico in partnership with IoTNet Mexico, beginning with Mexico City. IoTNet Mexico will initially focus on applications for utilities such as remote metering for water, gas and residential electricity. In this deployment, city-wide coverage is expected by the end of 2016 with nationwide services available 'shortly thereafter'. A number of smart city initiatives across Mexico will ensure there is a ready market for Sigfox when it launches its network, in partnership with IoTNet Mexico. As the IoT market matures beyond immediate uses in utilities and logistics, we expect Sigfox to forge more partnerships, in particular with its investor Telefónica's local unit.
