BMI View: Given Saudi Arabia's dependence on oil and the outlook for the global oil market, we expecteconomic growth to be lower in 2016 and 2017 than in the recent past, and we expect the performance ofthe commercial real estate sector in the short term to be steady rather than growing.Saudi Arabia's economy has experienced strong growth in recent years, reflecting high oil prices and output,strong activity in the services sector and rising government spending. The rise in oil prices and highproduction brought with it large external and fiscal surpluses, helping government debt to fall significantly.However, while the economic growth outlook remains favourable, the substantial drop in the price of oilsince mid-2014 and in particular in the first few weeks of 2016, to below USD30 a barrel, poses asignificant risk to overall performance.
