BMI View: Poland's food and drink industry will experience positive growth over our forecast period to2020, and a positive economic outlook will drive consumer spending as private consumption remains strongover 2016. High levels of self-sufficiency in the country's dairy and meat sector will drive stronger growthin food sales, as well as a positive outlook on the development of organised retail. Growth in the Polishdrinks industry will remain positive, with rising health concerns driving growth in high-value segments.

- Food sales in local currency will grow by 3.4% in 2016, up from 2.5% in 2015. This growth will beboosted by the growing formalisation in the mass grocery retail sector as well as high self-sufficiencylevels in meat and dairy production.

- Non-alcoholic drinks sales will experience positive growth, reaching a compound annual growth rate of5.8% to 2020 due to rising disposable incomes supporting consumer spending. Bottled water sales willoutperform on the back of rising health consciousness.

- BMI expects Polish consumers to switch up from independent retailers to organised retail over theforecast period, owing to the growing trend of private labels offered by formal retailers.
