BMI View: Hungary's insurance sector is set to grow at a steady pace over the next few years. We haverevised several key forecasts upwards in reflection of a more favourable outlook for the Hungarianeconomy as well as further interest cuts which have boosted disposable household income and hencedemand for life, health and other personal insurance products. Insurance penetration and density willnevertheless remain low in Hungary in relation to other European markets over the forecast period.

Key Updates and Forecasts

? Having revised upwards our medium-term forecast for Hungary's life insurance premiums, we maintainthat the life segment will remain the main driver of insurance underwriting activity in the country throughto 2019. We forecast life premiums to grow by 9.8% a year on average over 2015-2019. As such, the lifemarket will retain, and extend, its lead over the non-life segment in terms of its total value, with lifepremiums representing more than 60% of those written in Hungary in 2019.
