BMI View: The Q1 2016 West and Central Africa report analyses latest industry, regulatory andmacroeconomic developments and trends in the telecommunications market in seven countries: Cameroon,Côte d' Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Gabon, Mali, Mauritania and Senegal Stronggrowth over the past few years has resulted in more saturated markets, at least in terms of the number ofmobile telephony subscriptions However, there is considerable long term value to be gleaned from thesemarkets and, moving towards 2019 and beyond, regional mobile operators will increasingly shift towardsadvanced data services to sustain and build on revenue generation The efforts of operators will becomplemented by the uptake of low-cost smartphones and mobile devices along with access to cheap andmore reliable international bandwidth connectivity via submarine cables

- Average mobile market growth in the six countries in FY15 was 83% At 253% Cameroon recorded thehighest mobile subscriber growth rate, which reflected the impact of competition on the sector, with thetwo original operators, MTN and Orange, competing against Vietnam's Viettel Senegal, Mali andMauritania all recorded single digit growth, while Gabon saw a 138% fall in mobile customer numbers,which was due to market saturation and the deduction of inactive SIMs Average mobile penetrationamong the six countries was 108% at the end of December 2015 Gabon had the highest penetration rateat 1577% and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) had the lowest at 611%

- 3G and 4G customers represented 153% of total mobile subscribers at the end of 2015 This figure ispredicted to rise to 294% in 2019
