Taking stock: Economic recovery and growth in farm prices will drive demand for support services
Livestock Production Support Services in the US
Demand for the Livestock Production Support Services industry is growing in line with larger cattle and pig herds, bigger broiler flocks and increased milk production. However, animal disease outbreaks, increasing health consciousness and the global economic recession have reduced meat consumption over the past five years, thus limiting revenue with which to spend on support services at the farm level. Through 2020, revenue in the downstream livestock industries is forecast to grow as the economy improves and demand recovers at the retail level, which bodes well for the industry. Operators will benefit from growing livestock inventories and a trend among many farms toward outsourcing services instead of making large investments into capital equipment.
This industry includes companies that mainly provide support services for raising livestock. Livestock is a term used to describe animals, such as cattle, goats, hogs, horses, poultry and sheep, which have been domestically raised for meat, milk, wool and work. Support services provided to livestock producers include breeding services, pedigree record services and vaccination. Activities related to aquaculture are excluded.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
