Forging ahead: Strengthening economic conditions will aid revenue, despite import pressure
Metalworking Machinery Manufacturing in the US
The Metalworking Machinery Manufacturing industry, which produces power-operated tools and machine accessories used for finishing or shaping metal parts, has posted solid gains since 2011. Downstream industries, including machine shops and auto parts manufacturers, have experienced a rebound from their recessionary slumps, boosting demand for metalworking machinery over the past five years. Competition from imports, however, has undermined some domestic manufacturers, driving them to relocate abroad over the period. Foreign competition, particularly from emerging Asian markets, is expected to continue increasing through 2021, moderating the industry's growth prospects in the next five years.
Companies in this industry primarily manufacture power-operated tools that are used for finishing or shaping metal parts, which are then used to manufacture other machines. Industry products include wire drawing and fabricating machines, metal cutting tools, special dies and coil handling equipment. This industry excludes companies that primarily manufacture power tools and other general-purpose machinery accessories (see IBISWorld report 33399).
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
