CSPs are among the most important participants in the M2M value chain. However, some CSPs are providing more compelling M2M solutions – and selling and delivering these more effectively – than others. Analysys Mason’s "M2M carrier scorecard 2013" is a ranking of CSPs according to how they are performing in matters related to M2M, and how they are positioned for growth in this market.

- Analysys Mason's '2013 M2M carrier scorecard' is a ranking of communications service providers (CSPs) according to how they are performing in matters related to machine-to-machine (M2M), and how they are positioned for growth in this market.
- Our scoring is based on our evaluation of questionnaire responses from the CSPs and information obtained through interviews with M2M vendor partners of the CSPs. It should be noted that there is an element of subjectivity in all scorecards.
- We ranked the participating CSPs according to six distinct M2M categories. The categories are:
- M2M strategy
- M2M scale
- M2M organisational structure
- M2M networks and standards
- M2M customer experience management
- M2M ambition and vision.
- This report presents these rankings and a discussion of the best performers in each category.
- We have also developed a combined M2M performance ranking, to show the strongest and weakest CSPs out of the operators that participated in our study.
- This combined ranking is based on two factors.
- M2M scale: The number of enterprise M2M device connections that the CSP reported or we estimated.
- M2M overall excellence: The average of each CSP’s ranking in the five other categories:
- M2M strategy
- M2M organisational structure
- M2M networks and standards
- M2M customer experience management
- M2M ambition and vision.
- We assigned each CSP to one of four performance groups:
- industry icons
- trailing titans
- This is our third annual M2M carrier scorecard and we look forward to inviting even more CSPs to participate next year.
