First calculations on the basis of wind measuring data assessed at the meteorological stations in the early 80ies rendered the surprising result of annually approx. 6,600 to 10,000 GWh of technically exploitable wind energy potential in Austria. And while only part of this potential is utilized in the light of landscape protection concerns and environmental aspects, this sector has shown a significantly positive development over the past years.
