This company was formed in the year 1936 by bringing ten existing cement manufacturers belonging to four prominent business groups namely, Tata’s, Khataus, Killic Nixon and F E Din Shaw under one umbrella known as Associated Cement Companies Ltd. Sir Nowroji B Saklatvala was the first chairman of this oldest cement manufacturer in the country. The company has exited non-core business and is focussed in its core business of cement manufacturing. Currently the company is a part of Holchim group of Switzerland which is the world leader in cement, concrete and aggregates and on 1st September 2006, it changed its name to ACC ltd.
The company is engaged in the manufacture of cement and ready-mixed concrete. The Company manufactures a range of Portland cement for general construction and special applications. In addition, ACC also offers two products namely, bulk cement and ready mix concrete. Its subsidiaries include ACC Concrete Limited, Bulk Cement Corporation (India) Limited, ACC Mineral Resources Limited, Lucky Minmat Limited and National Limestone Co. Pvt. Limited. On April 20, 2009, the Company acquired National Limestone Company Private Limited. On January 28, 2010, it acquired Encore Cements & Additives Private Limited.
