•Going green is the new global trend for chemicals and materials in all applications. One of the ways to achieve this is by recycling plastics and using them, together with virgin plastics, to create more plastic products, thereby reducing the converters’ carbon footprint.
•The trend in plastics in the food packaging sector is for thinner but stronger light-weight plastics.
•Thinner and lighter packaging reduces the amount of polymers used, thereby reducing the cost of packaging in the most price-sensitive market application area.
•Stronger packaging reduces the amount of food that is wasted during transportation or general handling. This, therefore, reduces the hunger resulting from food loss due to damage or reduced shelf life.
