The jewelry and watches industry includes gold, silver and other precious jewelry such as diamonds, platinum, precious stones (sapphires, emeralds and rubies), pearls (natural and cultured) and semi-precious stones (e.g. quartz, opal, topaz, amethyst, coral etc.). Costume jewelry is excluded. All watches for men, women and children are included. The industry is valued at retail prices, and all currency conversions are performed using constant average 2009 exchange rates.
