Slovenia's communications market is dominated by the fixed-line incumbent, Telekom Slovenije. The newly elected government confirmed in early 2015 that it would complete the privatisation of the telco, though only the investment fund Cinven has emerged as a bidder. In the overall telecom market, regulatory intervention has improved market conditions for competitors, with network interconnection rates now below the EU average. LLU monthly fees, based on regulator-approved pricing models, continue to trend downwards. As a consequence the wholesale market is improving, as evident by the increasing number of unbundled local loops. In response to competition Telekom Slovenije has followed the path of many European incumbents and expanded internationally, focusing predominantly on the Balkans region and morphing into a regional provider of IT and multimedia services rather than a national telco. This report offers a variety of insightful statistics and a concise overview of

Slovenia's fixed-line telecoms market, covering the major players, regulatory developments and fixed-line infrastructure.

Key developments:
Cinven makes sole bid for Telekom Slovenije; contract awarded to build a wireless network for the Slovenian railway system; telecom regulator changes its name to AKOS; Telekom Slovenije's mobile subsidiary merges into parent company; sharp rise in VoIP connections as PSTN declines; telecoms sector investment recovers from economic downturn; insufficient access regulation hindering altnet investment in NGNs; National Assembly adopts the Electronic Communications Act; regulator's 2014 market report; State Statistical data to Q4 2014; telcos' operating and financial data to Q4 2014; recent market developments.
