Materials manufacturers are carefully expanding their supply capacity while keeping in mind the cyclic nature of the market.
-The increase in the average blade length has spurred innovation in the reinforcing fiber and core materials segments. Manufacturers are more focused on improving the performance characteristics of existing materials than on developing new materials. High M&A activities are also expected as the manufacturers look to diversify their product offerings.
-The APAC region will continue to lead the market in size because of its fast-growing wind energy industry. North America and ROW are expected to be the two fastest growing wind turbine blade materials markets. Europe and North America continue to use the highest average volume of materials per blade due to a trend towards larger wind turbines.
-Brand equity, supply reliability, and high performance-price ratio will remain the key differentiating factors among market participants.
