Global Manganese Mining to 2020

Summary

As the global economic recovery strengthened in 2014, the production of crude steel grew by 1.2% to reach 1.66 billion tonnes in 2014. This led to an increase in global production of manganese ore, which increased from 50.7Mt in 2012 to an estimated 59.2Mt in 2014 according to GlobalData. In 2013, China was the largest producer of manganese ore at 23Mt, followed by South Africa (11.02Mt), Australia (7.26Mt), Gabon (4.3Mt), Brazil (2.44Mt) and India (2.05Mt). Of the rest, Ghana accounted for 1.91Mt and Ukraine 1.35Mt.
