Synopsis
Timetric's 'Base Metals Mining in Sweden to 2020' report comprehensively covers Sweden's reserves of lead and zinc, the historical and forecast data on Swedish lead and zinc production, historic and forecast production by selected base metal mines, lead and zinc metal consumption and trade. The report also includes demand drivers affecting base metals mining in Sweden, profiles of major base metals (lead and zinc) producing companies and information on the active, exploration and development lead and zinc projects.

The base metal industry is dominated by two companies: Boliden AB and Lundin Mining Corporation. The industry is governed by the Geological Survey of Sweden (Sveriges Geologiska Undersökning) and the Mining Inspectorate of Sweden (Bergsstaten).

Summary
Sweden has substantial zinc and lead deposits, along with deposits of iron ore, copper, gold and silver. Political stability, mining expertise and a strong mining equipment industry support the country’s mining operations. Sweden stood 10th in the world with 1.1 million tonnes (Mt), or 1.3% of global lead reserves at the end of 2014. Substantial lead deposits are located primarily in four regions: Dalarna, Örebro, Norrbotten, and Västerbotten. The country’s zinc deposits are in the form of sedimentary exhalative (Sedex), Mississippi Valley Type (MVT), volocanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) and in the form of zinc oxide, mainly located in the Boliden area.

The base metal industry is dominated by two companies: Boliden AB and Lundin Mining Corporation. The industry is governed by the Geological Survey of Sweden (Sveriges Geologiska Undersökning) and the Mining Inspectorate of Sweden (Bergsstaten). The Mineral Act (1991:45) is the regulating law

Scope
The report contains an overview of the Swedish base metals (lead and zinc) mining industry, together with key growth factors and restraints affecting the industry. It also provides information about reserves, reserves by region, overall historic and forecast production, historic and forecast production at selected base metal mines, lead and zinc historic and forecast consumption, base metal prices, trade information, the competitive landscape and active, exploration and development projects.
