Commercial Aviation in APAC : A Future Aerospace Region Giant on the Rise

Introduction

The APAC region is the most dynamic and one of the most influential regions in commercial aviation, with the demand growing massively over the last decade. The average growth rate of the passenger traffic has been % since 2010, bringing the annual air traffic in APAC to more than billion passengers, i.e., % of the world’s traffic. The traffic grew even quicker than the gross domestic product (GDP)— % on average since 2010.
- In order to cope with this demand, countries in the APAC region need to develop their infrastructure, i.e., upgrade and/or build new airports while enhancing the capacity of their fleet. As a result, a majority of the orders and deliveries are absorbed by the airlines in APAC.
- The region is also committing to developing itself in the aerospace industry. This is particularly true for China and India, which have already started to make huge investments in the aerospace industry, as the prospective in this industry looks promising. In Japan and Korea, some legacy participants have been working on commercial aviation since World War II, and have increasing work package responsibilities on the newer platform, particularly for Boeing.
