An Insight into Terrestrial Communications : Regional Trends and Metrics

Mobile connections have surpassed fixed/land line connections in a relatively short amount of time (less than a decade)- Mobile connections continue to increase, not just from users which did not previously have a cellular device, but users now adopting multiple devices- Additionally, users with fixed communications may be likely to switch to mobile communications (losing their fixed communications in the process), while the opposite is not true- It is unlikely for any mobile communications users to cancel their service unless they are simply moving to a different company-

• Additionally, regions which are earlier in their adoption of communications technology are more likely favor mobile communications over fixed communications- Thus, outside of businesses, fixed communications will have a difficult time competing against mobile communications-

• Users with fixed communications may be likely to switch to mobile communications (losing their fixed communications in the process), while the opposite is not true- It is unlikely for any mobile communications users to cancel their service unless they are simply moving to a different company-

• Regions with the lowest number of connections per user will be the most prospective for satellite backhaul for cellular services and satellite broad band internet-
