This is an update of Australia's telecoms market, covering mobile, fixed broadband, operator initiatives, consumer market trends, and regulation. It includes subscriptions and revenue forecasts for mobile and fixed broadband.

Highlights

Strong digital transformation, LTE turning point: Australia has been characterised as a market with strong technological leadership and has remained at the forefront of digital transformation backed by the nation's affluent and tech-savvy populace. 2015 is the year when LTE will finally overtake WCDMA as the leading technology.

Operators step up with LTE-A coverage enabling new video services: All three MNOs became more aggressive on expanding LTE-A coverage, with Telstra and Optus launching LTE700 services. They have started offering VoD over these 450Mbps-capable networks, as they move beyond plain vanilla style voice/text/data bundles.

Mobile operators returning revenue growth into positive territory: The postpaid segment is providing general ARPU uplift for mobile players which has positively impacted revenue growth. Not only are operators enjoying a bounce in new contract customers, but postpaid users are also spending more, buying bigger data allowances and migrating to plans better suited for 4G smartphones.
