- The most significant industry sectors for exports from Finland are refined petroleum (10percent),
Kaolin coated paper (7.4percent), large flat-rolled stainless steel (4.2percent), uncoated Paper
(2.5percent), and sawn wood (2.1percent). Finland is actually the largest exporter worldwide for Kaolin
coated paper.
- An increase of 2-3 percent in exportation is predicted in the coming years.
- Finland had a public debt of 52.1 percent of GDP in 2014, which is forecasted to increase in the coming
year to 55.1 percent, yet then return 52 percent again by 2017.

The Healthcare System:
-Last year 9.1 percent of the GDP (or € 19 bln) was spent on Healthcare, compared to 11 percent in Norway and 9.6 percent in Sweden.
-The growth in healthcare spending has slowed down since the economic crisis of 2008, to 1 to 2 percent per year in real terms.
-The growth for the coming years is forecasted to be around 1.3 percent.
-Although the costs for healthcare are lower than in the other Scandinavian countries, the efficacy of the Finnish system is at least at the same level or higher than in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
-Inpatient care represents 35 percent of the healthcare expenditures.
-Expenditure on hospital care is around € 6.8 bln and about € 4.0 bln for primary care.
In real terms, hospital expenditures increased by 3.8 percent in 2014 compared to 2013.

Reforms:
Reforms will center around the following:

- Equal levels of healthcare for all citizens
- Increase quality and efficiency of healthcare provision
- Reduce administrative costs and overhead
- The reform is expected to save € 3.0 bln on the government budget

The Markets:
- According to TforG’s estimates, medical equipment represents about € 1.05 bln in 2015, and this amount is expected to expand yearly by 2.5 to 4 percent in the coming 3 years.
- The market is driven by a growing consumption of medical devices and by increased pressure for cost containment.
- There is substantial local manufacturing of medical equipment (GE), which accounts for more than one third of the export of electronic products.
- The private sector plays a strong role in certain sectors of care provision (mainly in the primary a tertiary sectors). However the current government is favoring the development of the public segment.
- The equipment market is characterized by high level service and maintenance offerings. Finland is an appealing market because of the advanced competence level of the country.
