The Dutch TV market benefits from a comprehensive cable network reaching almost all TV homes, together with upgraded DSL networks capable of providing bundled offers and videostreaming services to most households. The Netherlands was the first country in Europe to complete the move to DTTV broadcasting, in late 2006. Its excellent broadband infrastructure also forms the bedrock of popular bundled services offered by KPN and the dominant cableco Ziggo Group, which since December 2016 has become the joint venture branded as VodafoneZiggo. The new company is at the forefront in the provision of popular all-in-one services, including fixed-line services from Ziggo coupled with Vodafone's nationwide LTE offers. T-Mobile, having secured Vodafone's fixed-line business in November 2016, is now also able to offer quad-play services and provide more effective competition to KPN.

This report provides an overview of media convergence in the Netherlands, profiling the major players and covering developments in digital, cable and interactive TV as well as services videostreaming services including VoD and IPTV.
