Such ingredients typically find application on a combo basis or as blends that can be added to food products. A few of these ingredients are also being utilized in the form of masking ingredients that enable in avoiding the bitter or metallic aftertaste effects of certain foods. Versatility in application has provided the requisite impetus to these health promoting products.

Some of the major factors driving demand for sodium reduction ingredients include greater emphasis on health nutrition and growing knowledge in regard to the detrimental effects of excessive intake of salt, improvement in taste and increased demand for processed foods.
