Industry Definition
This industry is concerned with management units involved in the resale of various wired and wireless services including local, domestic and international calls and mobile telephony services. Industry participants purchase access and network capacity from wired and wireless carriers who own and operate their own networks. Industry participants do not operate (or maintain) their own telecommunications switching equipment or transmission facilities and as such do not invest considerable sums of capital into building or operating their own infrastructure. It also means that they are dependent on the policies and pricing strategies of such carriers. The industry services both households and businesses.
