World Security Equipment

This study analyzes global markets for nonmilitary security products and systems. Products covered include most locks and keys, other mechanical security devices (fire extinguishers, safes, vaults, safety deposit boxes and other dedicated bank security hardware), alarms (burglar, fire, smoke, and panic/medical emergency), and other electronic systems (access controls, closed-circuit television, electronic article surveillance/anti-shoplifting systems, bomb and metal detectors, and other miscellaneous devices). Excluded are security services (including equipment installation and repair), structural security products (e.g., bars, gates, fences, grilles, doors, lighting, sprinkler systems), automotive security products, furniture and motor vehicle locks, products manufactured primarily for military use, products used in nonsecurity applications (e.g., metal detectors in food processing plants, closed-circuit television for traffic control and medical monitoring, biometric identification systems for public benefits, etc.), information security hardware and software, and firearms and other weapons.
