In Feb. 2012, some listed domestic agrochemical companies have released their 2011 financial reports in succession, most of which have witnessed a decline in their net profits, such as Veyong Bio-Chemical, Noposion, Lier Chemical, etc.

However, a small number of other listed domestic agrochemical companies were very lucky last year, achieving growth in net profit, such as Lanfeng Biochemical and Changqing Agrochemical. It is particularly worth noting that Lanfeng Biochemical's net profit has risen pari passu with its revenue in 2011.

With the public's increasing awareness of food safety and environmental protection, China's governments aim to greatly strengthen the market supervision in pesticide industry. Under the circumstances, on 16 Feb. 2012, MOH and MOA co-issued the National Food Safety Standard of MRLs for 85 Pesticides in Food, which will go into effect on 1 April, 2012.

In addition, wheat diseases mainly including sheath blight, powdery mildew, scab, stripe rust, etc., will seriously occur in China in 2012, accumulatively hitting about 30.0 million ha., up 28% year on year; rice diseases' occurrence area will increase by 6% year on year this year to accumulatively reach 30.7 million ha. all over the country.

China's output of fungicides has witnessed a slight growth of 1.3% in 2011.

Changqing Agrochemical's net profit has witnessed a slight growth of 4.61% year on year in 2011.

Shanghai Heben-Eastsun plans to expand its capacity of azoxystrobin technical to 500t/a from 300t/a this year.

Baoling Chemical has successfully acquired two temporary registrations of SYP-7017 in early Feb. 2012.

Sinochem Group will launch six new pesticides into the market in future, including three fungicides.

Carbendazim technical's total output of key domestic producers has exceeded 37,000 tonnes in 2011.

The consumption of dimethormorph has witnessed a significant growth in China in recent years.

Bailly Chemical will launch fluazinam technical with the capacity of 500t/a in H2 2012.

Kuaida Agrochemical aims to reinforce its iprodione's market position and expand this fungicide's capacity to 600t/a by 2013.
