According to Renault, total industry volumes for the first two months of 2014 came in at 2,410 units, up 52.1% year-on-year (y-o-y). This very much plays out our bullish view on the market. We forecast auto sales to grow at an average of 6.4% per annum over the 2015-2018 period, to hit 52,370
units by 2018. We believe a number of factors will generate wealth for the country and consequently boost consumer spending in the coming years.

The Ghanaian economy will enjoy strong economic growth over the medium term, propelled by the nascent oil and gas sector. Ghana's abundant natural resources, fast growth trajectory and relative political stability all bode well for strong foreign investment inflows. We hold a positive outlook on private consumption growth due to rapid growth in key sectors. We forecast that Ghana will remain a regional outperformer thanks to the oil boom (though mismanagement of oil revenues - perhaps stemming from insufficient institutional capacity - could dent investor perceptions), and we also expect a number of other sectors to perform strongly, particularly infrastructure, agribusiness and retail.
