China Wind Power Industry Research 2007
Wind power is the most mature energy resource in renewable energy echnologies in the past 20 years and the cost of wind power has decreased by 80 percent. Wind power has becoming the closest thermal power generating cost of the new energy that makes wind power has developed for a large-scale commercial operation. To the end of 2006, the capacity of global wind power was about 74.22 million kilowatts; the additional wind power was installed 15 million kilowatts in the same year. Expected 2020, the wind power capacity of proportion of power resources could be raised to 12%.
The total wind energy resources reserves in China are 3.226 billion kilowatts. There are 10 metre height of a practical development of the wind energy reserves in land are 253 million kilowatts, and offshore areas can be developed wind energy reserves are 750 million kilowatts, a total of 1 billion kilowatts.
In 2006, the additional wind power capacity was 1.337 million kilowatts, which included domestic enterprises accounted for 41.2 percent, and foreign enterprises accounted for 55.1 percent, a joint ventures Nantong CASC Wanyuan Acciona Wind Turbine Manaufacture Co. Ltd. (NCWA) accounted for 3.7 percent. The percentage of domestic enterprises has increased 11.8 percent compared with 2005.
By 2010, the total wind power capacity will reach 5 million kilowatts. There are 30 around 100,000 kilowatt wind power plants will build in the eastern coastal regions, and North region; meanwhile, one or two 100,000 kilowatt-class sea wind power pilot projects will be completed.
