Succinimide Production & Market in China

Succinimide, an important raw material or intermediate in chemical synthesis, can be used to produce N-halogen succinimide, silver cyanide-free electroplating. The research and production of succinimide in China began in the 1980s. However, China's industrial production of succinimide didn't start until the early 1990s. Before the year 2000, the output of succinimide in China was only several dozen tonnes. With the increasing demand of downstream products in oversea markets, China’s succinimide production has developed gradually since 2000, though the growth rate is not very fast.

There are less than 10 active succinimide producers in China at present, and their total production capacity is more than 1,600t/a. China’s succinimide producers are clustered in Jiangsu province. Some producers produce a series of succinic acid products, including succinimide, and they often shift their production from one product to another, according to the market situation of these products. There has been no great innovation in the succinimide production technology in China.

China’s succinimide price has kept stable in recent two years, as the operation rate in of succinimide very low in China and the producers have comparatively stable clients. A large part of China's succinimide is produced by order, and over a quarter of the China's output of succinimide is exported.
