In China, the process involving p-nitrophenol hydrogenation with iron powder is still the main method for the industrial production of PAP, although China’s government has issued regulations restricting the application of this method in Dec 2005.
In recent years, the domestic production capacity of PAP has been increasing, as the demand from its downstream products, especially from paracetamol is increasing.
p-Nitrochlorobenzene as the raw material is used in PAP industry by over 70% of Chinese manufacturers.
The export amount of PAP has been increasing dramatically in the recent years, and most of it is exported to Asian countries.
Apart from export, PAP produced in China is mainly used to produce paracetamol industry in China. The other consumption segments of PAP include dyestuff industry (for sulphur dyestuff), rubber industry (for antideteriorants like 4010NA).
