Development of Astaxanthin in China

This reserach mostly focuses on astaxanthrin industry development,particularlly its reserach development in China.
Chinese astaxanthrin industry still stays at the initial phase in 2005 and its commercial production started only 2 years ago. We have found that only 2 producers are active and 2 have stopped the production. For some reasons, a lot of companies stopped their astaxanthrin production in recent years.There are 3 potential producers:
- Zhejiang NHU Co., Ltd.;
- Zhejiang Hisun Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
- Hubei Guangji Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
The research of astaxanthrin is active in China, since its beginning in 2003.A profound review of technology research development from 1993 to 2004 is presented by years. The major active research institutes include:
- Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou);
- South China University of Technology;
- Zhejiang Universtiy of Technology;
- Jiangnan University;
The current research on astaxanthrin mainly focuses on three areas:
- Cultivation of Haematococcus plusvialis;
- Strain screening for Phaffia Rhodozyma fermentation;
- Parameters for fermentation of Phaffia Rhodozyma;
